The Storm

One drop comes down
Beside another.
This is the child,
This is the mother.

But all are family
In this flood:
A net of flesh,
A mesh of blood.

How can you go
Beyond recall?
How can you fall,
And I not fall?

How can we see
Beyond reprieve,
And yet continue
To believe

That heaven turns
The wind around
And drives the torrent
From the ground?
